Answers: Local Only, Always
Every quiz on PolitiScope — the political ideology test, the spectrum and alignment pages, the liberal–conservative tests, and the party-comparison quizzes — computes its results inside your browser tab using ordinary JavaScript. Your answers, scores, and party-proximity reads are never transmitted to our servers or any third party. That is the first promise of this privacy policy and the reason the site can make it so confidently.
There is no account system, so there is no profile to link answers to. There is no database of responses, so there is nothing to breach. This privacy policy also covers storage: we do not use localStorage or sessionStorage for quiz state, and we never encode answers or results into URLs — sharing a page link shares only the page, never your data.
The share card is generated by your browser, on your device, only when you click the download button. It includes a summary of your dimensions and a clear “informal self-assessment” label, never your statement-by-statement answers. What you do with that image afterwards is entirely up to you, and the privacy policy follows the image nowhere.
Why Political Answers Deserve a Strict Privacy Policy
Political opinions are classified as special-category data under the EU General Data Protection Act and comparable laws in many jurisdictions. That classification reflects real risk: political data can enable discrimination, profiling, and pressure in ways that ordinary browsing history cannot. A privacy policy for a political quiz should therefore be held to a higher bar than one for a wallpaper site.
This privacy policy is built on architecture rather than promises. A site that never transmits answers cannot lose them, cannot be compelled to hand them over, and cannot sell them. Local-only computation is the strongest guarantee available to a web quiz, and every page on this site uses it.
If we ever add features that change this — accounts, saved results, external analytics — the change will be announced in this privacy policy first, reviewed against the special-category rules for political data, and off by default. The current site has none of these, and the privacy policy you are reading describes only what exists today.
Hosting and Technical Logs Under This Privacy Policy
The site is served over standard web hosting, which records the routine technical information every website logs: requested URLs, timestamps, IP addresses as they pass through the hosting layer, and user-agent strings. These logs exist for security and abuse prevention and are retained only for the hosting provider’s standard period — the normal hosting clause of any privacy policy.
What distinguishes this site: URLs never contain your answers or results, so the logs cannot reconstruct anyone’s political profile. Under this privacy policy there are no per-user analytics running on quiz interactions, no advertising pixels, no cross-site trackers, and no fingerprinting scripts.
Cookies: the quiz itself sets none. Standard hosting and content-delivery infrastructure may set purely technical cookies for caching and security. No cookie covered by this privacy policy carries answers, scores, or identifiers linked to your quiz behavior, because none exists to carry.
Children and Age Appropriateness
The quizzes are written for a general audience and are frequently used in classrooms, but they are not directed at children under the age of digital consent in any jurisdiction. Because no personal data is collected from anyone — of any age — this privacy policy gathers, stores, or processes no data about minors.
Educators and parents can treat the site as a calculator: it operates on the values typed into it, displays a result, and forgets everything when the tab closes. There is nothing to supervise after the fact, because under this privacy policy nothing persists.
Your Rights Under Privacy Law
Under the GDPR and similar frameworks you hold rights of access, rectification, erasure, and portability over your personal data. On this site those rights are trivially satisfied for quiz answers: you already hold all of it — it is in your browser and nowhere else — and closing the tab is complete erasure. Few privacy policy documents can be that concrete.
For the minimal hosting logs described above, rights requests would go through the hosting provider’s processes, and the logs contain no political data to rectify or export. This privacy policy keeps that scope deliberately small so the answer to “where is my data?” is always simple.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a revised date. Material changes — especially any that would introduce transmission or storage of quiz answers — will be highlighted at the top of the page and reflected across every quiz before they take effect.
The design intent is permanent: a political self-assessment should collect nothing it cannot immediately forget. As long as PolitiScope exists in its current form, the honest summary of this privacy policy stays two words long: nothing stored.
